摘要: Perhaps the major technical problem in streaming media on demand over Internet is need to adapt changing network conditions. Today’s commercial systems rely Multi Bit Rate coding for adaptation. However, existing algorithms are empirical and often fail a dynamic network. In this paper, we extend our optimal rate control framework address unique problems posed by MBR stream switching constraints. A purely client-driven solution provided, which achieves three goals: low startup delay (much less than 1 s even without bursting), continuous playback face of severe congestion, maximal quality smoothness entire session. We argue that algorithm complements any transport protocol, demonstrate it works effectively with both TCP TFRC protocols. Finally, robust against data loss delay.
