摘要: The one-pot production of industrially valuable diketone derivatives from carbohydrates is achieved through a bifunctional catalytic process. In particular, Pd/C-catalyzed hydrogenation HMF in water and under CO2 affords 1-hydroxypentane-2,5-dione with up to 77 % yield. process also eligible starting fructose inulin, affording 1-hydroxyhexane-2,5-dione 36 % 15 % yield, respectively. key the reversible in situ formation carbonic acid, which capable assisting Pd/C during reaction by promoting dehydration ring-opening furanic intermediates. Interestingly, changing medium H2O H2O/THF mixture (1:9), it possible switch selectivity produce 2,5-hexanadione 83 % Within framework sustainable chemistry, reactions presented this report show 100 % carbon economy, involve generate acidity, require as solvent, are conducted rather low hydrogen pressures (10 bar).
