摘要: Abstract This paper presents a simplified analytical method to evaluate the resistance of single plating lock gate impacted by river barge. The approach is based on assumption that behavior may be divided into two successive phases. At beginning collision, local crushing some structural elements occurs concomitantly with small overall elastic motion entire gate. Then, when penetration barge becomes important, global plastic mechanism develops over structure. In addition membrane and bending deformations occurring classically in such collisions, particular flat shape striking bow leads shear near edges. For all these deformation modes, closed-form expressions are derived for both phases applying upper-bound method. These developments then validated through comparisons numerical solutions obtained from non-linear finite-element simulations.
