摘要: Drive-by sensing has the potential to provide hyper-local data study a number of urban phenomena and deliver actionable insights for public good. Yet drive-by deployments are often characterized by small fleets, huge costs lack flexibility adapt city’s multiple needs. The City Scanner project aims accelerate development turning everyday vehicles into nodes. In this paper we present Greta II, solar-powered platform that allows low-cost continuous collection streaming phenomena. Thanks modular design it can be customized with off-the-shelf sensors re-used across different deployments. II easily built deployed without disrupting vehicle’s normal operation. been validated during test in two large American cities collect air quality data. Drawing on our experience building deploying discuss challenges solved enabling large-scale sensing.
