摘要: Abstract The capillary properties of fluid bridges formed, in a gravitational field, between two large horizontal solid plates were elucidated by methods used previously. Meridian curves which on rotation give the computed for wide range bridge volumes and heights contact angles at upper lower solids 0, 52, 90, 139, 180°. Plots dependence volume height constructed several values radius plate each angle: these show contact-angle dependence. More striking differences among systems with different are revealed plots force exerted plate, pressure difference across curved interface where it meets as functions (for constant separation), (at volume). considerations reveal many, but probably not all, instabilities experience when manipulated along equilibrium paths. Comparison previous report (J. Colloid Interface Sci.75, 409 (1980)) shows features similar aspects constrained edges axially aligned vertical rods.
