摘要: We have recently established a new method for measuring the mass of unstable particles produced at hadron colliders based on analysis energy distribution massless product from their two-body decays. The central ingredient our proposal is remarkable result that, an unpolarized decaying particle, location peak in observed decay identical to (xed) value that this particle would rest-frame which, turn, simple function involved masses. In addition, we utilized property symmetric around when plotted logarithmic scale. general strategy was demonstrated several specic cases, including both beyond standard model particles, as well top quark. present work, generalize case massive decay; procedure far trivial because (in general) above- mentioned properties are no longer valid. Nonetheless, propose suitably modied parametrization used successfully case, which can deal with well. test concrete examples spectra ofZ bosons heavier supersymmetric partner quark (stop) into aZ boson and lighter stop. After establishing accuracy parametrization, study realistic application same process, but now dominant backgrounds using foreseeable statistics LHC14, order determine performance actual measurement. upshot previous work spite being Lorentz-variant quantity, its emerges powerful tool measurement colliders.
