An Overview of SOM Literature

摘要: Competitive-learning neural networks may be much less familiar to the ANN community than more straightforward multilayer feedforward networks, or feedback state-transfer networks. The literature on competitive learning has also been somewhat esoteric all time. Nonetheless one should not underestimate its importance, especially since development of many functions is only explainable by means competitive-learning models. On other hand, spatially ordered mappings such as SOM seem in a central position explaining observable physiological brain organizations.
