The effects of epilation and hormones on the activity of rat hair follicles

摘要: The growth of hair from epilated and non-epilated areas rats receiving a variety hormonal treatments was investigated by pulse-labelling with 35S-cystine. While epilation at certain stages the spontaneous cycle may rephase follicular activity, it did not affect length, rate or duration hairs which erupted subsequently, either in untreated hormone-treated rats. Thyroxine shortened active as well resting phase cycle. It also increased rate, so that were ultimately same length those animals. Estradiol slightly phase, even though complete prolonged. decreased rate. When administered simultaneously, estradiol thyroxine exerted their effects independently.
