摘要: [1] Two thousand one hundred forty-eight carbon isotope values for terrestrial organic matter (plant fossils, coal, bulk matter) provide a proxy record temporal changes in the global cycle. δ13CTOM, δ13Ccarb, and δ13CCO2 allow full evaluation of transfer atmosphere-ocean system as well between marine realm. The evolution δ13CTOM parallels respective data sets from carbonate carbon, thus reflecting linkage both reservoirs via atmospheric dioxide. On basis comparison measured predicted records isotopic fractionation associated with plant metabolism are discernible. This contradicts notion an invariable C3 metabolism. In light results current growth experiments, these viewed dependent on O2/CO2. Hence might serve signal composition.
