摘要: Foraging by predatory fish is thought to be one of the primary ecological processes affecting abundances plants and animals in subtidal habitats. The importance this process was assessed on surfaces urban structures (pontoons pilings) that represent major coastal habitats for marine organisms. Fish feed with greater intensity epibiota attached pilings than pontoons it hypothesised predation explained why structure epibiotic assemblages differs between these I predicted would develop differently presence (plates open predation) but not absence inside exclusion cages). Results revealed large differences abundance were largely independent caged uncaged plates. Predation may intense (as appeared unimportant because does explain observed prey (epibiota pontoons).
