摘要: Signalized intersections sometimes involve multistage pedestrian crossings, in which signals direct pedestrians to cross one or more islands and then wait there for a signal continue. There are no widely accepted methods tools calculating delay at perhaps as consequence, traffic governing crossings designed way that results very long delays. This paper describes numerical method determining crossing applies of any number stages multiple WALK intervals per cycle. It also covers diagonal two-stage bicycle left turns, common providing cyclist turns Europe American cities beginning adopt. has been implemented the freely available Northeastern University Ped & Bike Crossing Delay Calculator. The authors describe several control paradigms reducing bike with including short cycles, reservice, bidirectional crossings. show how various lead / lag phasing sequences overlaps can result good progression selected bicycling movements. Examples reductions up 95 s.
