摘要: Short-rotation woody crops (SRWC) could potentially displace fossil fuels and thus mitigate CO2 buildup in the atmosphere. To determine how much fuel SRWC might United States what associated carbon savings be, a series of assumptions must be made. These concern net biomass yields per hectare (after losses); amount suitable land dedicated to production; wood conversion efficiencies electricity or liquid fuels; energy substitution properties various used growing, harvesting, transporting, converting biomass. Assuming current climate, present production, technologies considering conservative estimate U.S. base available for (14 × 106 ha), we calculate that 33.2 73.1 Mg releases, 3–6% annual emissions.
