摘要: Abstract This study and a second part dedicated to the mechanical characterization provide better knowledge of tungsten (W)–vanadium (V) alloys reinforced with yttrium oxide (Y2O3) particles, which have been scarcely investigated. Two W (W-2 or 4 wt.% V-0.5 wt.% Y2O3) pure material processed by powder metallurgy consolidated hot isostatic pressing were analysed. Along this part, microstructure materials at room temperature is mainly analysed field emission scanning electron microscope. The densification in compacts shows an increase V Y2O3 additions. Porosity reduced because formation W–V solid solution pools that fill pores between grains, although such effect observed W2V0.5Y alloy. composed coarse polyhedral grains whereas few nanostructured area, fine dispersed Y, form alloys. In contrast previously studied W-4 wt.% alloys, exhibit reduction oxygen content, prevents acicular structures. Finally, refinement induced addition was backscattered diffraction measurements. Pure presents high amount over 1 μm (around 60% volume fraction) only 2% below 100 nm. new meanwhile, population micron size highly less than 10% smaller 100 nm represent 20%.
