摘要: Melanoma in children is rare. Nevertheless, it imperative that clinicians be aware melanoma does occur childhood. Yet there very little information available on the clinico-pathologic variations, and prognostic parameters of children. This report presents results a multicenter study 102 lesions originally diagnosed as cutaneous melanoma, conducted among 5 Western European countries collected during period 1961–1994. Criteria for inclusion included: (1) diagnosis melanoma; (2) age up to 16 years at diagnosis; (3) availability representative microscopic slides. On basis histologic review only, 60 were confirmed 42 initially reclassified nevi; 31 latter contained predominance spindle cells. The only significant parameter associated with development metastases or fatal outcome was thickness more than 2.00 mm. 5-year survival rate observed this 84%. Based these findings we conclude considerable over-diagnosis melanomas occurs. In order, therefore, give consistent epidemiological data improve proper recognition their diagnostic features, both by pathologists, propose set central registry Europe, under auspices Organization Research Treatment Cancer. © 1996 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
