摘要: Abstract The faunal composition of Upper Pleistocene–Holocene sedimentary sections was investigated from several boreholes in the coastal areas northern and eastern Marmara Sea. penetrated to pre-Quaternary basement contain sediments deposited near-shore environments, such as lagoons, estuaries deltas. During post-glacial transgression, rapidly rising sea level drowned these littoral areas, progressively transforming into their present form over last 9.5–10 ka BP (uncalib.). Thus lower Kucukcekmece valley became a lagoon, while Golden Horn an estuary. On northeast coast, Kurbagali delta submerged. When rate rise decreased at about 5000–6000 years ago, influence Mediterranean water on assemblage surpassed by salinity tolerant forms, probably due increased freshwater sediment input land.
