AbstractLow cost, reliable and easily deployed ad hoc rural-area wireless networks are needed for both civilian military communications. In order to fulfill requirement easy deployment network needs be autonomous, self-organising self-healing. Multi-hop Packet Radio Networks a suitable solution this requirement. type all nodes use same frequency transmission as well using store forward procedure which enables communications between that out direct radio range. There variety multiple access protocols applicable system. Spatial Time Division Multiple Access (STDMA) has been studied found efficient fair, draw-back is it may not offer good peak rates bursty data traffic. The Carrier Sense Access/ Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol promises high efficiency ability provide rates. Although CSMA/CA new there very little work one considering multi-hop environment. This paper presents analysis in environment with without adaptive antennas. An explanation system design antennas given simulation results showing expected performance gain.
