摘要: Abstract Cancer metastasis is the main reason for high mortality in patients, contributing to 90% of cancer-related deaths. Biomarkers early detection and therapeutic monitoring are essential improve cancer outcomes. Circulating tumour cells (CTCs) arise from solid tumours capable metastatic dissemination via bloodstream or lymphatic system. Thus, CTCs can potentially be developed as a minimally invasive biomarker monitoring. Despite its clinical potential, research on remains limited, this likely due their low numbers, short half-life, lack robust methods isolation. There also need molecular characterisation identify tumour-specific features, such epigenetic signatures metastasis. This review provides an overview landscape CTCs. We discuss role modifications CTC dissemination, metastatic formation progression highlight implications
