摘要: Coimbra's urban transportation system is the oldest with trolleybuses currently in service at Iberian Peninsula. Some of infrastructure facilities date from middle last century and were not designed for today's energy concerns or energy-efficiency as case "Montarroio" substation that still uses mercury arc rectifiers. Energy-efficiency substation's improvement a key issue to maximize energy-savings. This paper describes main studies proposals made achieve saving cost reductions. One week long measurements two active substations analysis one year electricity bills made. It was concluded investments new rectifiers are needed some studied options have payback just few years. Implementing it can provide rehabilitation this means transportation, assuming real alternative mainstream systems, based on diesel bus.
