摘要: Progress towards achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) amongst Pacific island countries (PICs) has seen mixed results. As focus shifts to formulation new health-related development goals beyond 2015, there is a need for bringing community consultation into this process. For purpose, Go4Health global consortium examining these goals, with Work Package 2 capturing viewpoints marginalised populations regarding health. This paper examines perspectives youth in Vanuatu on essential health needs context post-2015 agenda, make concerns more visible their communities, stakeholders and policy decision makers. part larger investigation undertaken involving 100 residents from various rural urban explores twenty 17-year old secondary school students gathered through two group discussions during September 2013. Questions sought across areas including ideals, needs, responsibility services governance. Focus were conducted English digitally recorded, resulting transcripts subjected thematic analysis. cohort had strong understanding social determinants They placed value all aspects health, indicating have access positive lifestyle opportunities (sport, participation) also increased protection impact harmful substances causes chronic illness. Participants identified barriers due unevenly distributed throughout Vanuatu, members at levels society ultimately perceived as responsible improving nation. Against background weak system significant challenges public young people are acutely aware that Vanuatu's status requires communal effort.
