Factors Inhibiting Farmers’ Willingness to Participate in Agricultural Research

摘要: Development determinations that use the top-bottom strategy with little input and engagement of farmers have been known as an unsustainable weak pathway to development empowerment. Agriculture is spine Ethiopian economy. It contributes significantly overall economy in process. However, different evidences indicate yields crops under farmers’ condition are far lower than yield obtained research plots. Lack active participation agricultural has one major reasons for low productivity agriculture. Therefore, this study examines critical factors inhibit willingness participate country. A total sample size 39 respondents comprising 16 farmers, 14 researchers 9 agents were interviewed purposively based on snowball sampling technique. Qualitative design was used research. Data collected using in-depth interviews, focus group discussions observations analysed descriptively. The empirical results reveal affected by a number factors. These hindering include types, plans, objectives; perception researchers; improper prioritization problems; problems selecting potential areas research; lack good experiences past; absence proper technology demonstration during process; poor documentation integration indigenous scientific knowledge.
