摘要: A profusion of studies have demonstrated that body size is a major factor in mate selection for both men and women. The particular role played by weight, however, has been subject to some debate, particularly with respect the types sizes deemed most attractive, scholars questioned degree which preferences are constant across groups. In this paper, we drew from two perspectives on issue, Sexual Strategies Theory what termed cultural variability perspective, used survey data examine how was associated casual dating serious romantic relationships. We United States sample 386 African American adolescents young adults between ages 16 21, living Midwest Southeast, who were enrolled either high school or college. Results showed overweight women more likely report casually than thinnest weight category. Body not related status among men. Among women, results suggest stronger support argument Theory. Potential explanations these findings discussed.
