Green local governments in Florida: An analysis of sustainability and green building policies

摘要: Sustainable development is increasingly being integrated within local government planning across United States. Many communities are attempting to translate this general principle into specific and measurable terms. The urban sustainability literature has mostly focused on descriptive case studies of pioneering cities that have been characterized as true innovators in their efforts. Noticeably absent from the literature, however, an examination sustainable claims made by governments undergoing ‘green’ certifications. This study evaluates commitment efforts municipalities counties Florida framework Green Building Coalition’s ‘Green Local Government’ standard through a web-based content analysis mailed survey. findings indicate adopted demonstrate fairly high level development. However, adoption initiatives towards achieving designation was found be ad hoc piecemeal. also although some created novel incentive programs promote green buildings, administrative, monetary other barriers
