摘要: Accumulation of the polychlorinated terphenyl formulation Aroclor 5432 in aquatic species has previously been reported. Polychlorinated terphenyls (PCTs) are structurally similar to biphenyls (PCBs), and were used related applications. However, their biological effects have not thoroughly studied. Effects PCT mixtures on levels hepatic cytochrome P4501A (P4501A) associated ethoxyresorufin O-deethylase (EROD) activity mummichog (Fundulus heteroclitus), a common estuarine fish, assessed here. Fish injected intraperitoneally with formulations 5432, 5460, or PCB 1254, at doses 0.32 100 mg/kg body weight. Elevated EROD detected fish 1254 32 mg/kg. Induction resulting from was greater than that caused by equivalent 1254. Treatment 5460 did result significant induction. Because commercial contain small amounts PCBs, components may contributed induction observed for 5432. This work represents first report teleosts and, mammalian systems, suggests this mixture bemore » least partially mediated through Ah receptor binding.« less
