Nonfouling Behavior of Polycarboxybetaine-Grafted Surfaces: Structural and Environmental Effects

摘要: Zwitterionic carboxybetaine (CB) has unique dual functionality for ligand immobilization on a nonfouling background. The properties of CB groups depend their spacer between the positive quaternary amine and negative carboxyl environmental factors (e.g., ionic strengths pH values). In this work, five polycarboxybetaines were prepared, including one polycarboxybetaine methacrylate (polyCBMA) four acrylamides (polyCBAAs) with different groups. polymers grafted from gold surface covered initiators using surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization. Fibrinogen adsorption was measured as function values plasmon resonance sensors. responsive protein polyCBAAs mapped out. Results show that most these surfaces exhibit high resistance in wide range are more effective than zwitterionic self-assembled monolayers. Although tends to increase at low strength value, it is still very methylene, an ethylene, or propylene group but evident polyCBAA longer (i.e., pentene group). response can be attributed antipolyelectrolyte protonation/deprotonation polycarboxybetaines, respectively. Both related CBs.
