摘要: article i nfo The present study documents the first confirmed fossil record of Sinomenium in Menispermaceae, Sinome- nium macrocarpum sp. nov., from recently discovered Gray Fossil Site Tennessee, southeastern USA. species is represented by more than 120 endocarps, all which are characterized their horseshoe-shaped form and occurrence highly ornamented protuberances on both dorsal lateral crests. A combination relatively large size developed surface endocarp warrants new species. justified through a detailed comparison with related published extant discovery genus North America appears to support that site southern Appalachian region forest refugium during late Neogene when global cooling was intensified grasslands were globally expanded.
