摘要: It is well established that there are distinct seasonal cycles in the production of plankton, vary both geographically and terms phytoplankton-zooplankton coupling1 . Only recently have attempts been made to measure variability flux various biogenic components from ocean surface sea-floor2–4 relate this local hydrographic conditions5. For example, a simple inverse relationship has found between sediment seafloor sea-surface temperature Sargasso Sea5. A three-year trapping project subpolar North Pacific allowed us document interannual planktonic foraminifera sea surface. We propose model, based on preferences foraminiferal species, thermal structure upper water column food availability, explain observed changes over time flux.
