摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter describes the determination of fracture toughness at moderately high loading rates. The characterization resistance plastics under rate conditions, such as those encountered in impact tests, has been use for a long time. Traditional testing methods, pendulum tests and falling weight however, provide only conventional measurements that depend to great degree on test set up specimen observation. To take dynamic effects occurring rates into proper account define scope applicability protocol precisely, it is necessary understand nature effects. phenomena observed when test-piece loaded rapidly have two possible origins. One finite, though great, speed stress wave propagation material test, which prevents stresses from attaining equilibrium during short period event inherent fast loading. second, commonly termed “inertial effect,” acceleration imparted initially, excites inertial forces complex motions both striker mainly instrumental, depending largely characteristics latter.
