摘要: Abstract The overall objective of this study was to investigate the potential impact on settled water quality using cement kiln dust (CKD), a waste by-product, replace quicklime in active treatment acidic mine water. Bench-scale experiments were conducted evaluate performance calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) slurries generated four different CKD samples compared control with (CaO) terms reducing acidity and metals concentrations acid drainage (AMD) taken from effluent lead/zinc Atlantic Canada. Results showed that all evaluated capable achieving greater than 97% removal total zinc iron. amount solid alkaline material required achieve pH targets for neutralization AMD found be higher slurry experiments, varied linearly free lime content CKD. results also benefit treating could reduced sludge volumes process, further research into characteristics use CKD-generated is recommended.
