Coryphaena hippurus: A potential predator of Lagocephalus sceleratus in the Mediterranean Sea

摘要: Lagocephalus sceleratus is considered as one of the most invasive Lessepsian immigrants introduced in Mediterranean Sea. It a highly toxic fish, pest for fisheries, environment and economy. Hitherto, its invasion has been favoured by lack natural predators non-commercial value. The present study reports first published incidence juvenile L. predation an adult Coryphaena hippurus. This constitute significant finding which can potentially guide future management efforts control basin; however, further research should be conducted to elucidate whether catch was accidental or if sustainable C. hippurus populations affect early life stages sceleratus.
