摘要: Zone 3 of a step-distance protection scheme has been identified as one the contributing causes cascading failures in power systems. The National Electric Reliability Council (NERC) issued rules, and IEEE Power System Relaying Committee (PSRC) discussed recommendations to reduce undesirable operation this component chain. It is purpose paper reexamine application zone 3, describe situations where it can be properly utilized, removed without reducing reliability system and, if used, how modified or set. A table presented for variety station designs schemes including two common local backup relay systems associated remote third zone. Finally, concept critical locations introduced which assist engineer determining potential operations are serious threat help determine expense difficulty removing modifying its justified.
