摘要: Background Little information is available regarding blood supply safety in Afghanistan. The purpose of this study was to assess through serologic and observational measures Afghanistan. Study Design Methods This cross-sectional assessment included the 40 highest-volume facilities collecting transfusing nationally identified a previous survey. At each facility, representatives completed standardized instrument assessing staff performance transfusion-related activities performed rapid testing for human immunodeficiency virus, syphilis, hepatitis B C with diagnostic tests on clinically discarded specimens. Reactive samples received confirmatory testing. Descriptive statistics were generated, differences analyzed using chi-square or Fisher's exact tests. Results Between November 2010 May 2011, total 332 donor collection procedures observed. Only 52.4% observed encounters correctly screened deferred donors by international criteria. Public private demonstrated glove use, proper sharps disposal, patient counseling relayed screening test results less than 75% events, significantly likely military (p < 0.01). Of 1612 specimens assessed, confirmed cases (n = 6), (n = 1), syphilis (n = 3) detected among units already prescreened accepted transfusion. Conclusion Lapses contributed presence confirmed-positive transfusion, as study. Steps must be taken ensure standardization kits requirements, documentation, mandatory training continuing education bank regard counseling, drawing, processing, transfusion products.
