The effect of oxygen on seed survival and accumulation of chromosome damage in lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.).

摘要: Loss of viability and accumulation chromosome damage were studied in lettuce seeds stored air and nitrogen at two moisture contents, 6.1% 18.1%. At the low content survival was marginally better nitrogen than air. However, high stoted survived longer than those nitrogen. In spite of.these differences, gas environment has little effect on relationship between amount accumulating surviving seeds. Thus seeds stored both showed same number chromosomal aberrations for any given loss of viability. However observed loss much less in moist dry The prospects using inert controlling genetic deterioration during seed storage are briefly discussed
