摘要: The interaction of oxygen with a single-crystal K(110) surface has been studied using HREELS, XPS, and LEED. Vibrational spectroscopy reveals that at 88 K is initially chemisorbed dissociatively. Higher exposures lead to occupation subsurface sites formation bulk K2O oxide. In contrast the interpretations previous photoemission experiments, no molecular species were observed. Oxygen transferred from when sample annealed 240 K, or irradiated by AlKα X-rays. latter appears be direct photochemical process. Even both oxide present, remains reactive. No long-range order was observed after adsorption.
