Modification of activated carbon by 2,6-diaminopyridine for separation of Hg2+ from aqueous solutions

摘要: Abstract The activated carbon prepared by pine cone was chemically H 3 PO 4 and then modified with 2,6-diaminopyridine. synthesized adsorbent characterized FTIR SEM techniques. used for removal of mercury from aqueous solution under different experimental conditions. At optimized conditions the adsorption capacity 377.68 mg/g obtained which much higher previous reported values. process fast equilibration attained in 20 min. exothermic spontaneous. Regeneration studies showed that retained most its initial after four regeneration cycles. Langmuir isotherm provided best description equilibrium giving a maximum uptake Hg 2+ as 384.62 mg/g
