Long survival in a patient with brain metastases from breast cancer

摘要: The incidence of brain metastases (BMs) is apparently rising in patients with advanced breast cancer, possibly due to better therapeutic approaches for control metastatic growth other organs. Occurrence BMs severely affects quality life and associated dire prognosis. In this short report we describe the clinical case a 47 year old woman, from cancer diagnosed May 2001. patient was treated whole irradiation radiosurgery, initial BMs. Due previous radiotherapy fi elds doses, further local treatments are not feasible anymore. Since September 2006, has been receiving systemic therapy Lapatinib at dose 1500 mg/die continuously, good cerebral, liver nodal metastasis after one treatment (September 2007). Her acceptable, her Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) more than 70%, she takes care family, experienced neuro-cognitive dysfunction.
