Squirrel monkeys as a useful vaccine model for Schistosoma japonicum infection

摘要: Abstract Young adults of the squirrel monkey, Saimiri sciurea, were immunized with γ-irradiated (20 krad) cercariae Schistosoma joponicum, and they examined for protection against a challenge infection normal cercariae. In unimmunized control group, dominant accumulation neutrophils was observed in egg granulomas liver, intestine, lungs association severe hemorrhage surrounding tissues. on other hand, smaller size number, infiltration lymphocytes eosinophils within as conspicuous cellular response. Moreover, there no tissues animals, suggesting that vaccination attenuated effective reducing pathologic damages involved tissues, even though significant reduction worm recovery these animals compared controls. After infection, demonstrated earlier higher IgG antibody responses adult antigens. These results indicate monkey provides useful vaccine model S. joponicum infection. As far we know, this is first report species.
