摘要: Abstract Earthworms ( Lumbricus rubellus and Dendrodrilus rubidus ) were collected from several acidic calcareous abandoned ferrous metalliferous mine sites. Tissue lead concentrations substantially lower than the total soil concentrations, except at one site (Cwmystwyth) where tissue of both species approximately 5 to 10 times higher that soil. Soil was major factor in determining concentration, although it demonstrated pH calcium concentration could markedly increase % variance concentration. These findings help explain apparent anomaly earthworms Cwmystwyth, is has exceptionally low concentrations. Soil-liming experiments provided supportive evidence pH, coupled with calcium, influences accumulation by earthworms, but a filter paper feeding experiment unequivocal alone can influence earthworms. It concluded that, influenced physico-chemical biochemical mechanisms, latter over-rides former, i.e. more important pH.
