摘要: Urbanization is increasingly becoming a widespread phenomenon at all scales of development around the globe. Be it developing or developed nations, are witnessing urbanization very high pace. In order to study its impacts, various methodologies and techniques being implemented measure growth urban extents over spatial temporal domains. But dynamic has been facing ambiguities regarding methods dynamism. This paper aims quantifying expansion in Delhi, capital city India. The process studied using land cover pattern derived from Landsat TM/ETM satellite data for two decades (1998–2011). These maps show that built-up increased by 417 ha first time period (1998–2003) 6,633 during next (2003–2011) study. For quantification metrics expansion, Urban Landscape Analysis Tool (ULAT) was employed. Land mapping done with accuracy 92.67 %, 93.3 % 96 respectively years 1998, 2003 2011. Three major covers classes mapped are; (i) built-up, (ii) water (iii) other non-built-up. were then utilized extract degree based on density area consisting seven classes, Suburban built-up,(iii) Rural (iv) Urbanized open land, (v) Captured (vi) (vii) Water. demarcated urbanness cells. Similarly footprint generated. compared qualitatively quantitatively capture dynamics city. Along urbanized maps, new areas periods also identified. consisted three categories developments, infill, extension leapfrog.
