Starch and talc emboli in drug addicts' lungs.

摘要: The lungs of eight drug addicts dying as a consequence their habit have been examined. All showed the presence small amounts talc emboli and five starch emboli. Talc was invariably associated with marked foreign body reaction which insignificant in association starch. Animal experiments very rapid (90% 24 hours) removal maize emboli; such man would explain lack response. Quantitation amount present from two cases gave values 1·5 5·2 g. higher could contributory factor sudden death addict. seen were not sufficient to be clinical significance.
