摘要: A strain of Listeria monocytogenes, isolated from a patient with meningoencephalitis, was resistant to chloramphenicol, erythromycin, streptomycin, and tetracycline. The genes conferring resistance these antibiotics were carried by 37-kb plasmid, pIP811, that self-transferable other L monocytogenes cells, enterococci-streptococci, Staphylococcus aureus. efficacy transfer the stability pIP811 higher in enterococci-streptococci than gram-positive bacteria. As indicated nucleic acid hybridisation, streptomycin closely related plasmid-borne determinants are common enterococci-streptococci. Plasmid shared extensive sequence homology pAM beta 1, prototype broad host range plasmid two groups cocci. These results suggest emergence multiple antibiotic spp is due acquisition replicon originating dissemination strains likely.
