摘要: ALTHOUGH liquid water is a minor component of the troposphere, chemical reactions that occur in droplets (clouds, fog or rain) affect composition atmosphere and atmos-pheric input to terrestrial aquatic ecosystems. Iron (Fe(II) Fe(III)) involved many these processes, particularly redox radical chain reactions1–6. Here we report measurements Fe(II) concentration (up 200 μ?) (pH 3–7). We find large fraction total Fe present as dissolved Fe(II). The concentrations increase both with exposure light decreasing pH. iron are much higher than those measured oxic surface waters so atmospheric deposition may be source waters, thereby increasing availabil-ity biota.
