Work Accommodations: A Social Perspective

摘要: The prevalence of musculoskeletal and mental health injuries, also known as “non-visible disabilities,” in the workplace is expected to increase with escalating concerns disability management. This chapter covers state research practice presents a model considering social interactions work accommodations based on grounded theory study. Study findings show that more successful outcomes are likely when accommodation policies consider interdependent processes developing trust balancing control compared not or separating these return accommodations. Current evidence-informed best practices evidence-based components process summarized. Factors contributing (1) assessing needs environment readiness, (2) monitoring effectiveness relationships support them, (3) promoting flexibility, (4) integrating standards systems for service providers, (5) staff training psychoeducational components, (6) enhancing importance factors, (7) utilizing an employment specialist RTW coordinator, (8) multidisciplinary resources, (9) engaging key stakeholders. Identified gaps recommendations future suggested.
