摘要: The primary sex-determining signal in the nematode C. elegans is ratio of X chromosomes to sets autosomes (X/A ratio). As a consequence, males (XO; 0.5) and hermaphrodites (XX; 1.0) possess different doses X-linked genes. Here we demonstrate that compensates for this disparity gene dose by equalizing levels X-specific mRNA transcripts two sexes. Moreover, show mutations three autosomal genes disrupt process dosage compensation. Reduction activity either dpy-21, dpy-27, or dpy-28 results overexpression genes, 2- 3-fold above wild-type levels.
