摘要: In the later pages of notebook, as Einstein let general covariance slip away, he devised and abandoned a new proposal for his gravitational field equations. This same proposal, revived nearly three years later, opened passage to final theory. abandoning it in had all but lost last chance deliverance. chapter reports develops our group's accounts this decision. Einstein's decision blame upon what called "fateful prejudice" misinterpreting Christoffel symbols. We suggest that aberrant use understanding coordinate systems conditions was important another fateful prejudice.
