"Why Won't He Go to the Doctor?": The Psychology of Men's Help Seeking

摘要: Men seek help less often than women and underutilize medical mental health services. This article explores three bodies of theory research related to men’s seeking. Gender socialization theories, social constructionist psychological theories are considered. Each theoretical paradigm is illustrated through case examples considered in light its ability care providers understand orientation Strategies increase seeking also explored.
