摘要: A comprehensive volcanological study of the Albano multiple maar (Alban Hills, Italy) using (i) 40Ar/39Ar geochronology most complete stratigraphic section and other proximal distal outcrops (ii) petrographic observations, phase analyses major trace elements, Sr O isotopic pyroclastic deposits shows that volcanic activity at was strongly discontinuous, with a first eruptive cycle 69±1 ka producing least two eruptions, second peaks 39±1 36±1 four eruptions. Contrary to previous studies, we did not find evidence magmatic or hydromagmatic eruptions younger than ka. The fed by new batch primary magma compositionally different from older Alban Hills; moreover, REE 87Sr/86Sr data indicate originated an enriched metasomatized mantle. According modeled liquid line descent, this differentiated under influence magma/limestone wall rock interaction. Our detailed petrologic reconstruction Maar evolution substantiates dormant state Hills Volcanic District.
