摘要: In certain structural applications the use of fiber composites is advantageous over metallic structures (lighter weight, and higher stiffness). Polymer matrix composite (PMC) materials with continuous high modulus graphite fibers are very effective under high-cycle fatigue loading due to ability transmit disperse high-frequency vibration loads. A well-configured PMC structure can achieve practically infinite life, carrying relatively subjected cycle usually experience damage initiation by transverse tensile failures (perpendicular applied direction) in matrix. As a result, large number microscopic cracks appear matrix, parallel fibers. The response properties resistance propagation remain intact at presence [1]. At end fractures occur stress concentration sites, such as interlaminar boundaries. resulting local delaminations indicate onset failure stages. Composite not predictable reliability compared material parameters elements that contribute load redistribution capability.
