摘要: As an iconic image of our time, the selfie has attracted much attention in popular media and scholarly writing. The focus so far been on representation self or subjectivity. We propose a complementary perspective that foregrounds intersubjective function selfie. argue presence selfhood is often assumption. What distinguishes from other photographic genres its ability to enact intersubjectivity – possibility for difference perspectives be created this shared between creator viewer. Based social semiotic analysis selfies Instagram, we identify four subtypes selfie, each deploying combination visual resources represent distinct form intersubjectivity. Our suggests potential empowerment inherent structure that, as genre, it open recontextualisation across contexts platforms.
