摘要: Standard treatment of lymphatic filariasis with diethylcarbamazine (DEC) is associated systemic adverse reactions, thought to be due the release microfilariae material and Wolbachia endosymbiotic bacteria into blood. Combination treatments doxycycline for 3-8 weeks are more effective than standard treatment. However, long-term use antibiotics may contribute drug resistance not practical in remote areas.
