Because diadromous life history, variability in rates survival fresh water can affect overall recruitment. objective our study was to assess how river temperature flow influence young the year (YOY) recruitment Northeast US. Observations adult juvenile fish five rivers were used construct spawner–YOY recruits models; these chosen because length time series (>15 years) paired observations spawners juveniles. An environmentally explicit stock–recruitment model explained a substantial fraction (41% 80%) variance YOY abundance, depending on system.
